I had a very random idea for this thread. The idea is that you take a photo of your desk at home - you can annotate if you like, I'm just interested in how others see the forums! Here's mine:

Just an idea! This may never take off! laugh.gif

*sigh* everyone else seems to have a computer at theirs....I want one in my room but oh well. The desk that I'm at is really neat and boring as its the family one downstairs....I spose I could take a photo of the one in my room.

Looks tidy to me Nicki!
I think my desk would win the prize for the untidiest desk ever. I would take a photo of it, but you can't actually see the desk at the moment. rolleyes.gif

Middle of desk - monitor and keyboard. Right of monitor - telephone, one speaker, mouse on mat, two pens and a pencil, pocket mp3 recorder, remains of tissue packet, ponytail band. Small table to right of desk - Main part of PC, scanner, modem and extension cable. Stack of CD-Rs, another pencil, concert programme from two weeks ago.

On the floor by the small table - printer with a load of discarded print-outs heaped on top of it, black ring-binder, carrier bag with 4 reams of assorted coloured paper, tape recorder, box of CD-RWs.

Left of monitor - one speaker, drinks coaster, heap of paper and books averaging approximately 15cm deep, covering whole of desk except where a lamp teeters on the edge , having been pushed there by the encroaching paper.

On the floor left of the desk, the greater part of the paper heap which fell off the desk some time ago.......estimated depth around 30cm.

Windowsill in front of desk, left to right, stack of (music) CDs, small solar-powered toy (gift from a fellow chorister) more paper, graduation photo of self and hubby (gosh weren't we young), small plastic model of a New York concrete cow, globe.

All right, a description will do? Fine. Now then, what do I have? Let me give you a feel of the place rather than just a description of a small workspace. I have a long desk which is neither small or large. It's very pale silverish white with metalic edges. A red-blinking joystick stands to my far right with a blue box of white tissues nearby, still on the far right. The screen in front of me has some papers/letters and kids' discs lying right in front of it and a printer on its left and a massive window to the left of my left hand and shoulder. The window ledge is where I put my beloved photos and (yes, beloved as well) coffee! It's a bright workplace flooded with natural light so there's a ridiculously large and brightly and multi-coloured blind (with lots of blue, yellow, greens, etc) to cut down some of its brightness. The window very near me/the desk looks out to my rather plain-looking small garden with a wooden shed and swings and slide. Diagonally left behind this garden that, lies the woods and it is to this direction I gaze from time to time to rest my eyes when I have to do a lot of paperwork/typing for my kids.

I like my desk space. In fact, I like it too much for my husband's liking! smile.gif

Ok. I couldn't load the picture on so i put it on my site here

I haven't got a computer at my desk but the one downstairs is only ever used by me so it might as well be mine. Don't know what happened to my webcam. Down the back somewhere, I'll just describe it for now.

Top: Books, school books, sister's books and the book I forgot to return on the last day of Year 6. Have a mug up there which I don't use and just stuff it with pens etc. Speakers, and my modem is up there too.

Left: Papers from ages ago, old dictionary, notebook, french dictionary, chinese dictionary, english-chinese dictionary, fountain pen, lid of my memory stick, school term dates.

Right:CD-ROMs from when I must of been about 7. Even have Chessmaster 6000 which came free with my old computer, I've also got a microphone, a large blob of blu-tack, cellotape, scissors, ruler, calculator, old mouse mat and manuscript.

Centre: My PC, school books in front of me, crisp packet ph34r.gif and a piece of paper with notes on it.

My keyboard and mouse is on a little sliding thing below.

Bottom: paper for the printer, printer, scanner, ink for the printer, blank DVDs and CDs and a laminator (sp).

I think I should clean up my desk now.

A mess. A complete and utter mess. It looks like a bombsite. tongue.gif

By the way, HelloKitty, I agree vwith you on your site, Orli is fit.

Useless bit of information:
Actually my boyf is from Kent and one his friend's from Canterbury - well, her mum used to work with OB's mum, when they were both nurses in the same hospital. So I can do a "degrees of separation" thing there

Me----Boyfriend----Boyfriend's Friend----Boyfriend's Friend's Mum-----Orlando's mum-----Orlando.

6 degree! Well just call me the "friend of the stars" . . . . laugh.gif

I still haven't got round to sorting my camera out, so i'll describe:

My desk is very old and may fall down soon, which would be horrible because my sewing machine would probably break. I can count 7 different types of fabric spread all across it and probably some more material underneath. There are two magazines; one opened at p. 45, one closed shut. There is a box of pins (which, for once, aren't on the floor pricking my feet), and pencils and LOTS and LOTS of paper spread mainly to the left of my desk, creasing up against the wall. My laptop no longer has a place on my desk, so I use my bed. I like it that way, except when I want to watch a DVD in bed, I have to find somewhere to put it where it won't slip. Actually in my sewing machine needle, is part of my new suit, which is looking completely hott (note the double T). There is a continuation of ready-bought clothes from my desk leading on the stool placed just next to it.

Nobody seems to like the fact that my room is a complete bombsite, yet everywhere else, I verge on the obsessive when it comes to neatness and tidying up games...
