We live right next to the woods and yesterday I had a very long walk there. I usually walk with my kids. But this time I went alone for the 1st time this year. The weather was glorious - absolutely perfect. It was sunny with a slight breeze and the sounds of the woods like birdsong, the rustle of the leaves in the wind, etc, was - totalling relaxing. There were hardly anyone about. Maybe some football/sports coverage was on tv on Sat, I don't know. All I know was, it was such a beautiful day, the therapeutic effect was uplifting and I had a simply marvelous time - alone - enjoying my own company. Must do this more often. To enhance/retain my sanity. smile.gif

Hi Tess. Walking can be so therapeutic. Unfortunately the only walking I do is on a treadmill in the fitness suite - not outside in the fresh air. I'm glad you had a great time yesterday. It's good to be able to spend some time alone now and again. Hope you'll be able to go on your own a bit more often as you have found it so beneficial.

PS Your PM box is full!! I've been trying to send you a message for weeks!! rolleyes.gif

That's why I love having a dog - not only do I get out in the great weather, but it makes me go out and get fresh air and exercise even if the weather isn't quite so good......but when the weather is good, I feel I could walk forever!

And isn't it great after a walk in the rain to come home to a warm fire and a cup of tea...you feel so tingly all over. (That is once the dog has been towelled off and settled down on his bed near the Aga to dry!)

Ooo you lucky thing! Wish we had an aga - we thought about it when we extended and replaced the kitchen but even with the extension there didn't really seem any place to put it and the kitchen still isn't huge so we just got a multi-fuel burning stove in the living room instead! laugh.gif But the kitchen is still fairly snug as we've got underfloor heating which keeps it gently warm all the time..... smile.gif so as cd's bed is on the floor it's nice and cosy.......

Friend of mine has recently had a new extension/kitchen with underfloor heating and it is SO nice!!

I love walking smile.gif

Walking is great, it helps clear the mind, sorts it out into logical sequences, not dissimilar to sleep.

Love it!

Yes, I agree, walking is the perfect exercise in nice weather. I have to go out every day regardless, to exercise the dog, and having a dog forces you to go out no matter what the weather. I love the quiet of the woods and the time to let my mind wander - rather indulgent really, but a lovely feeling not to have to think about everyday problems. smile.gif

Yes, Oddball, it also clears the mind by putting things in the right perspective! And yes, NJ, it IS definitely sheer (but mentally necessary) indulgence. smile.gif

I wish I was that popular laugh.gif laugh.gif
Tess
By the way, Choddy, I am not popular like Noodle. I just happen to receive a lot of PMs from the same set of persons. biggrin.gif laugh.gif

I'm not that popular. Quite a few of the messages were from the same handful of people, I didn't get them all from different people.
