When going to a concert as an audience, what would you fellow forumers wear?

The reason I ask is, that I'm going to see a concert on the 1st April and I haven't got a clue what to wear.

Ok ... you may logged my forum name and signature quote .... by choice I would wear

Velvet dress, with a nice velvet cape, leather gloves and my new cane ...

I'm serious I would, and I do, you can usually see me a mile off smile.gif

and I love it cool.gif cool.gif cool.gif

If you're gonna go out and listen to the music you may aa well do it in style ...

In London - where what you like! From tee shirts and Jeans to the evening dress and velvet cape mentioned above. Local events, smart/comfortable casual.

I go to the Wigmore Hall evening perfomances quite dressed up and to the sunday coffee events in jeans. Barbican and South Bank v. smart. Covent Garden extremely smart I use it as an excuse to buy a new outfit (well new shoes at the least!). I am going to see Cecilia Bartoli in Manchester in May and that commands a new outfit! It will be v.v. smart. My kids who may accompany me are always dressed down but now my elder daughter is past 21 she has finally learned to dress up.

What is the concert and where is it? This is usually a determining factor on dress.

If I'm going to a nice concert hall to sit at a concert then I normally turn up in smart casual. When I was promming, then something comfortable to both queue in and stand through the prom.

If I go to a folk-rock concert though, I normally wear something fairly ethnicy. I just hope my husbands prepared when we go (provided he sorts out the tickets) to Cropredy this summer.

Gosh, I haven't done Cropredy for years. Hope it keeps nice for you.

Gosh, I haven't done Cropredy for years. Hope it keeps nice for you.

The line up is really good this year. Steeleye Span are there along with Ashley Hutchins new bands Rainbow chasers that I heard in Cambridge recently supporting Fairport, and of course there's fairport themselves.

But like you I'd rather go to the concert in my t-shirts and shorts than my waterproofs and wellies

If you were going to a football match then you'd wear what you want so why not wear what you want when you're going to a concert? Admitteldy if you turned up in goth kit, it wouldn't go down v well, but as music is a leisure for most, then turn up in what you'd consider leisure wear. If you want to dress up fine dress up!

I've never done Cropredy, but my other half has. I'll check he knows Steeleye are playing this year, because he might well go again (we're acquainted with two of them!). I've never been enough of a Fairport fan to go. sad.gif

I have no intention of leaving the Wellies at home! Along with tea diluted with rain and bacon butties, thats the essential camping experience!

I did my Guides camping badge in the rain! Trying to get the fire lit was interesting, but I passed.

I'm going to see Mozart's bassoon concerto ( wub.gif ) at this theatre down south, as part of a music festival. I'm tempted just to go in jeans and t-shirt, but I'm sure whether it will be suitable.

My choice of concert dress - works for being in a concert as well as seeing one - would be all dark: nice top (long or 3/4 sleeve, usually, and plain is fine) plus smart dark skirt or trousers (smart trousers probably would work better as you won't stick out so much). It doesn't look too overdone, and it doesn't look too casual, so you win whatever the situation biggrin.gif
