Well today was fun, Bob Chilcott came to conduct our choir (Berkshire Youth Choir)

He's such a dude!

He's conducting us for a conert in which we are doing his "The Making Of The Drum"

I think its mainly because we sing quite a lot of his stuff...

Anyway, I felt like sharing this intriguing piece of info with you all...

He is very good - I love his music and I wish more of it is recorded. I've done "Can You Hear Me?" and "Look to this Day" at various times.

the most recent ones we've done that i can remember are:

now the heart sings
in the heart of the world
and so it goes
the making of the drum

Top stuff!

Our choral society has recently commissioned a work from Bob, and he's coming to its premiere performance on 1st July in Dorking (PM me for further details wink.gif). Pyschofly, I'll pass on your regards to him!

Ooo what piece?

He said he's dedicating one of his latest works to our choir biggrin.gif, I'll try and find out what it was
psychofly
Well technically its not a new work, hes redoing The Lily and The Rose for SATB, dedicated to BYC biggrin.gif

I *love* Bob Chilcott smile.gif Have been lucky enough to meet him at his special Bob Chilcott Day things that he sometimes does and he's incredibly sweet.

My (ex)choir (along with numerous others) was invited along to sing at the premiere of his "Spells" pieces...lovely but a bit experimental compared to some of his other stuff.

(Oh my God, I sound like a real name-dropper now, I'm sorry...just shoot me...)
psychofly
Heh, I won't shoot you, it is Bob after all biggrin.gif
