Not necessarily, even if you've just failed in those 2 categories, you can still make it up else where.
We've all come out of at least one exam thinking we've messed up - Good luck

I don't think you've failed. You still get a few marks for trying each section, and you said the pieces and scales were alright, so you should pass.
Good luck with getting your result!

I dount think so.
For my grade 6, I messed up all but 2 scales and one of my pieces with dreadful aural and okay sightreading. I passed with 115.
Just remember that more often than not everyone thinks they've done worse than they actually have.

Good luck with getting results!

I don't think you've failed at all, considering that most people only remember the bad parts of the exam after they come out. remember, pieces are by far the most important component, and you seem to have done well enough in them. I made loads of mistakes in my pieces out of nerves, but came out with 25, 26 and 25 - still a merit mark - so don't worry! As for your scales, you only messed up two - that's not bad at all, and to fail I think you'd have had to have done most of them abysmally. As others have said, even if the aural was awful, your sight reading & pieces & scales would be able to pull you up to a pass mark.
Good luck in waiting for your results! Thankfully, they seem to come quite early - mine came in exactly 10 days.
Which pieces did you play? I did corant, vals poetico and prayer of the matador.

In my grade 2 oboe I failed Aural, sightreading I messed up a few scales and made a few mistakes in my pieces and I still passed. I'm sure you will have done fine

It doesn't sound as though you've failed at all Gregory! Even though you made a few mistakes in one of your pieces & a couple of slip-ups in your scales, the examiner will be looking at everything in general & won't focus on every little mistake you make. I messed up two of my scales & an arpeggio in my grade 4 & I got 19/21 for them so don't worry about that. Also, you say that the other two pieces were fine so try & focus on the positive aspects of the exam & not so much on the negatives. I don't think anyone particularly likes the sightreading & aural tests because they're 'on the spot' so don't worry about it. I'm waiting for my grade 6 results too & my sightreading wasn't great either & I totally messed up the sight-singing in the aurals!
From what you've said, I definitely think you've passed & it sounds to me as though it went quite well. Everyone makes mistakes especially when you're under so much pressure so stop worrying & try not to think about it!
Good luck with your results. I'm sure you've done well.

i wouldn't worry about it. I totally messed up my Grade 6, made mistakes with practically everthing that I done and i still passed, it was only 100 but a pass is a pass! I'm sure you'll do fine, and your teacher must of only entered you if they thought that you could do it.

It's generally the same feeling everyone gets that they've failed, but if you only mucked up 2 scales I'm sure your fine. I mucked up about 5 of my scales in grade 8 (inclu. arpeggios etc.) and my sight-reading wasnt excellent and neither was my aural, actually the examiner asked me if I wanted to re-do one of the signt-singing questions... and I still got Merit, for grarde 8!
I'm sure you did fine

I took my Grade 6 Piano the Friday just gone, and I did extremely similar!
When my examiner asked me to describe the texture of a piece, I blanked and couldn't!
(That's on top of all the mistakes you made too!)
See, while I don't think I've got a merit or anything like that, I don't believe I did badly enough to fail.
Doesn't sound like you've failed either. :]
Chin up, and good luck for your results! (Y)

Cheer up, i am sure you have done ok - there are so many components to the exam that where you lost marks in one part, you will be able to make up in another.
Good luck for your results

From what you said there, I think you will be absolutely fine. I made a few slips in all 3 of my pieces, had a wrong note in most of my scales, and completely messed up my aural, and was convinced I had failed.
I actually got a merit. You'll be fine.

That's very kind but as the original poster took their exam over a year ago, I think they should have their results by now. Then again. . .
Hope your result is ok.
