Has anyone ever mucked up a really exciting bit of a performance but eventually felt quite happy with how you'd done.....?!?
I was at a regional festival of music for youth this weekend, playing with some groups, but the performance I was focusing on was one with my quartet- we were playing the Mozart K421 Menuetto and Trio and the Dvorak American 4th mvmt-
I mucked up an exciting bit of the finale and when I came off I thought that the end of the world had come, and got q. emotional, but then when I spoke to some of the audience, everyone still seemed to be really positive (as against the 'oh well, never mind!' that I'd usually get!) and apparently that's b/c we seemed to be enjoying ourselves.............!?
I'm still really scared that I've forfeited what chance we had, if any, of going through to the nationals...................
But I guess I've realised that conveying to the audience that youre enjoying making the music is such an important thing.
How important do you all think it is?
