Gaubert by madrigal is lovely or the Godard piece is also good in List B.

Why don't you buy the grade CD and see which pieces you like on there?

It is important you try some out and see which suits you best. Listen to the CD, get a shortlist, ask your teacher if they have any and work from there. Seems a bit early if you won't be doing the exam til at least this time next year.

Hello, don't know what you like, but I've chosen the two movements from the Telemann Sonata, which are nice and they don't go too high. For list B it's Twinkle Toes for now. I also like Rondo:Vivace from list A and Godard Allegro from B. Anyway, it's up to you, I would get the CD if I were you, it's helpful if you're struggling to make a choice!

I've never sat the grade 6 exam but i think that The Prelude from Suite Antique by John Rutter is on the syllabus . It's a loooooooovely piece but you need to have good tone and be comfortable playing in the upper register . The Madrigal is gorgeous too !
Though get the CD and choose pieces you like .

Les Cygnes by Busser is really nice, I like Madrigal and Prelude too. Twinkle toes is fun but half of it is in a nasty key! I also bought the Kronke Suite en Stile Ancien which has three nice movements in the syllabus.

I was actually asking Jason which lists he wanted recommendations from

List A) I like the JS Bach, and the sonata it comes from is yuuuuuuuuuuuuummy! - I'm not keen on the CPE but it's OK, the Leclair also OK though rather overly florid for my tastes
List

My favourite is the Gaubert, Reverie is nice but stinky piano part apparently, the Rutter is pretty but does require confidence playing quietly in the top register, the Godard is OK though I'm not that keen myself. I haven't tried the Busser though I'm intrigued by it!
List C) My favourites are the Telemann and the Stokes

I love both of the Madrigals, though I've only played the Aubert one, the Telemann, Godard and Adieu from list C.

I've never even heard the Aubert one

I've heard it's nice....

I'm taking grade 6 flute in september, i'm taking the Suite Antique (be prepared for the upper octave all the way through!) 1st and 4th movements of Handel sonata in A minor (nice tunes, really love playing them, but does have G# trills, but they aren't too bad now) and my study is number 56 from 76 graded studies for flute book 2, its my Drouet (nice enough but take the turns) =) hope it helps

I like the Kohler: imagine a couple saying goodbye at a railway station, sad beginning, then they reminisce about the enjoyable times they've had, and then the train comes and one of them has to leave...
Just my take on it!

Don't have it. I think I played a horrible Kohler study for G6 Guildhall.

If you're buying the Kohler go for the Zimmerman edition. The Billaudot is very heavily edited, and a number of the etudes have been changed a lot. The syllabus refers to the Billaudot edition, but it's not one you have to use.
