For my Music coursework (Edexcel, AS), I have to do a baroque counterpoint exercise. I usually find this fine, but can't get any inspiration. You're given the bass line and bits of the melody and have to fill it in. I have identified motives, but can't get anywhere else and have to do it for tomorrow (not final deadline), any tips?

Can you fit any of the motifs by inverting them ? Or use the rhythm and make the melody imitation approximate?

Why not improvise around what you've got already, on the piano?
