Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a collection of pieces by Handel, similar to the old 'Home series' published by Keith Prowse. Grade ranges up to about Grade six standard. It is such a good book and I can't find a suitable replacement to use with my pupils.

Air with Variations from E major suite (Harmonius Blacksmith), five short melodic variations and quite easy (if you get the fingering correct.) to play. Should be manageable by a grade 6/7 pupil.

Approximately what grade/level is Harmonius Blacksmith? I dont have the score but have heard it and it sounds really complicated..esp the last variation I think. unsure.gif

The ABRSM's Selected Keyboard Works, Bk.1 or II might be handy, the first collection features the Harmonious Blacksmith, but mostly comprises items that are grade 3 or 4, and some that may be easier. I don't have the second book, but since it's got the Fantasia (grade 6/7) I suppose it would be a little more taxing. Would recommend the first as a solid and immensely enjoyable collection

As for the grade of the Harmonious Blacksmith...depends how fast you go. But I think you could expect someone around grade 6/7 to have a go at it steadily and produce a pleasing result.
