Hi,

I was just wondering where you have had the privilage to play at?

I am lucky to live in south tyneside and we often give concerts at The Sage Gateshead (the brand new place). We are also embarking on a tour to Paris very soon! cool.gif

Amonst many other places, our Youth orchestra has been asked by the BBC to be recorded for a short scene on TV, we are very excited! tongue.gif

Please feel free to share the wierd and wonderful places you have visited with your ensembles! biggrin.gif

Wow, cool!

The most prestigious place I've played is probably Pittville Pump Rooms in Cheltenham or the Town Hall in Cheltenham. rolleyes.gif

When I was at school our music centre band played at Old Trafford (Manchester United's ground) as pre match entertainment for a schoolboy international.
We also played on an open top bus for the Manchester taxi drivers trip to Blackpool ... they take disabled youngsters out for the day.
Jimmy Saville was on the trip.

I live in north tyneside!! But I've never actually been inside the Sage.... how awful is that?? tongue.gif Anyway I haven't really performed anywhere very exciting... Whitley Bay Playhouse, Newcastle City Hall, my church, and various cathedrals around the country. But that was singing for services, so I don't know if that counts. Today we're going to Durham!! In about half an hour actually (oops). We're going to sing evensong this afternoon and then mattins, eucharist and evensong tomorrow. Exciting stuff.

Probs the best place in England I've perfoemed at was in Bury St Edmunds Cathedral. But the best place I've performed at was next to Johann Sebastian Bach's grave in Germany. That was amazing! The cathedral/church there was beautiful. And I've performed at the Royal Academy of Music in Berlin, but I preferred the church with Bach.

I forgot:
15 English Cathedrals (chapel choir)

Take care,

Becky

Oh yeah, I forgot about that! I was on it when I was seven, and I'd only just joined the choir. The cameraman thought I was cute so a close-up of me singing the hymn got beamed around the country biggrin.gif

Talking about singing. About 5 years ago there was a house in my town on a program for the BBC where they discovered an old abbey type thing in the cellar below the house. Seeing as the owner of the house used to teach at my school, we went down into the cellar and sang loads of plainchant stuff. It was really freaky, but good fun. My friend still has the picture of us in the newspaper from that.

errm.. the more major ones (ie, the ones i remember the names of! tongue.gif ):
*St David's Hall (Cardiff)
*Brangwyn Hall (Swansea)
*Hereford Cathedral
*St David's Cathedral
*North Wales Theatre
*Brecon Cathedral
*National Botanic Gardens
*Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt, Berlin

Also numerous other venues in wales / ireland / england / praque / france / poland / germany & switzerland.. from touring smile.gif

Tv-wise, we're currently being filmed in rehearsals and concerts for a 6 part BBC documentary on a local amateur orchestra, which is kinda odd, and paranoia-inducing.. you just feel sort of under the microscope the whole time.. lenses and mikes everywhere!! unsure.gif

Also off on a NYOW course soon to record a cd, and prepare works for the BBC Welsh Proms, in St David's Hall. Scary stuff! Owain Arwel Hughes conducting, and we'll be performing with Julian Lloyd Webber!
Maybe i should start practising now! lol....
Should be awesome though! biggrin.gif
