I'd been a bit worried about my high notes coming out ok, but they were fine (I think!)
(No glares from the Conductor!)
David and Nils both said I looked happy, relaxed and confident...... a far cry from my usual anxious bunny-caught-in-the-headlights look.
The soloists were awesome, and because I was in the front row just beside them, I was in a good place to observe them. I had the job of giving the Baritone a bottle of wine after the first applause, and that went well - didn't trip over my skirt, or drop the bottle!
One rather scary thing happened, and I still can't work out how. As far as I was aware I had held onto my music folder throughout the interval. But when we went back on for the second half, I opened it and found that I had somebody else's books in it. Goodness knows how. But that meant that I had to go through the whole Mass in D without my handwritten markings. Thankfully I knew the piece really well, and remembered which bits were solo/chorus, and when to sit/stand. And I surprised myself by how well I remembered all the more detailed performance markings. A good, albeit slightly scary, experience to know that I was able to just get on with my performance and without anyone else being aware that I had a problem. So, I wonder who had my book? I didn't find out, and then they all had to be handed back in anyway, so I'll probably never find out.
All in all, a hugely enjoyable evening.
