Hi micky-d,
This is a really good idea for a voting poll! I think scales are great, so I said 'yes'.

Always had a sort of fondness for scales as I started to learn them right at the beginning of learning piano... something I'd wanted to do since I was 10 but never thought would ever be possible until we had a new organist at church when I was 14. That's a long time at that age.

However I dislike arpeggios even more! I at least feel in control with scales.

When I was younger I HATED scales... found them mindlessly boring and just hated them (although not as much as I hated arpeggios).
Now, I see why they're so useful and I actually quite enjoy playing scales.

I think they're ok, it depends if they're two octave or three octave. Two octave on the viola I love, but three octave especially the higher ones, they drive me crazy.
