Is anyone involved in this? Just wondering if this would be one of the best choirs in Great Britain and would it be very difficult to get into. Not that i would audition as i dont live on mainland Britian!

I'm not but I know a few people that are in it and a few people in National Youth Training Choir.
Think I might audition this Winter but not sure yet.

Yep one of my friends is away with them at the moment, in fact I think she may be back now...I should text her. Her singing teacher is the conductress or someone important, I do believe and she had to audition twice. She is amazing though! She says that she really enjoys the choir and it's ace and that I should have a go too....
Think I'll pass!

I auditioned for them when I was twelve, got rejected.
I was absolutely rubbish at the time, so they obviously knew what they were doing *grins*.
I have a couple of friends who were in the training choir (one of whom got accepted into the main choir), and both said it was amazing and very much worth doing (though incredibly expensive).
I wonder what the age limit is? Perhaps I should audition again in the future...am not really a choral singer, though, so who knows.

If I remember rightly, a friend of mine who I have recorder lessons with is currently in Harrogate with the National Youth Choir. Supposed to be fantastic!

Hello
I auditioned for the National Youth Choir of Scotland this year but was rejected because I'm a year too young even for the training choir ..
Though I'm going to audition next year again when i'll be old enough

Anyway back to your question .. I'd expect the National Youth Choir to be one of the best youth choirs in GB. It will probably have the best singers in the country as members .

They are extremely good - I've seen them on television a few times. The main choir is relatively small though so I guess you'd have to be pretty good to get in.

The NYCGB performed at the Royal Albert Hall last Thursday as part of the Classic FM Live concert. They were absolutely stunning and prove IMO that these young British Choristers, under the leadership of Mike Brewer OBE, are the best in the world.
I think the age range for the National Youth Choir is 16 to 23 years.

I'm listening at the moment to Radio 3 which is doing a programme about the National Youth Choir of Great Britain. They are really good. Their conductor, Mike Brewer is coming to do a workshop with the choir I play for in a couple of weeks. He's been before and is scarily good.
