I am going to have to start doing theory soon and i was wondering is grade 1 hard? What sort of things do you have to do/know?

It was really easy!! Just know the following things, and you should do really well.

1. Adding time signatures and adding bar-lines
2. Writing tow-bar answering rhythms
3. Writing named scale without key signatures
4. Adding clef to given triads and naming notes of triads
5. Naming degrees of scale and indicating melodic interval
6. Writing notes which have same time value as given rests
7. naming major keys as shown by key signatures
8. Tems and signs
9. Copying a part of music

If it's any help i'm not particularly good at music and i went through the grade 1 & 2 books within about an hour.

I've recently started theory and I started on grade 3 which I've nearly finished, it's not bad. smile.gif
