Hey guys,

Got my results today for my grade 6 clarinet. I got 120/150, so a merit (just!). Marks are as follows;

All three pieces - 25/30
Scales 18/21 (apparently it was only my intonation that let me down)
Sight reading - 15/21 never mind, I knew it had gone badly
Aural - 12/18 (pass mark) I knew that had gone badly as well, but he did congratulate me on my excellent knowledge in part D (apart from the rhythm) It was the rest of it that let me down so badly!

Just had an email back from my teacher after telling her my results (I was entered by the school and so she hadn't seen them). She's pleased, and already she's saying that I now need to get going on the music for my audition for County Wind Band. It never stops!

I know the feeling, I got told in January something that I would possibly be playing in July for my wind band audition!

I knew she wanted me to do it at some point, I just wasn't expecting her to bring it up straight after I got the results from my exam! I would have done it last year had it not been for me going on holiday at the time they go on tour (understandably, you are almost guaranteed not to get in if u can't go on the summer tour). But the tour will be great next year as it will be after I have done my GCSEs and will give me a break. Yes, it means I also lose some of my other holidays, but the residentials sound so fun it's unreal!

Really? It isn't obligatory to go on tour if you get in here. Touring is really great fun, I am going to Italy this year.

You'd think she would havwe given you a break...

This IS my break. Apparently, from what she says, now that I have my grade 6, getting into the Wind Band shouldn't be too difficult (hopefully), as you only actually have to have grade 4/5. By playing a grade 6/7 piece I should find it all right to get in. This is my way that I can play around with music, as the audition isn't until September I don't think. I'm looking forward to it actually, I just wasn't expecting it quite so soon.
