Today, just for fun, I decided to do a little recording. I think it turned out pretty well, so I thought I would post it and see what other people thought. It's not a full song, just the first verse, and it will probably sound a little strange since it's acapella and it's not really meant to be... But anyway.
Clicky I sound kind of strange on the chorus, but it's sung by a guy in kind of a strange way and I'm half trying to imitate him.

Very nice smile.gif Listened to it whilst drinking my morning coffee.

Very nice!

If you want criticisms, I guess I found it quite hard to understand the words, but then this may just be a feature of this style of music? The consonants were not terribly clear. Obvioulsy you prefer singing high than low, as the low bits were a bit 'muddy'. If I was your teacher and being perfectly honest, I might ask whether you think that the actuall quality of the singing has suffered at the expense of the expression of the song? Just a thought!

Anyway, a good effort - anyone who is brave enough to post a recording of themselves on here should be congratulated!

Nice! smile.gif I agree with David though that your high notes sounded more clear and confident than your lower ones! I enjoyed it, though!! smile.gif

My low notes do need work. I think a lot of singers, myself included, are a lot more focused on how high they can go and tend to forget about the lower stuff. Thanks for the critiques.

I'm the opposite Dagny - need to even out on the upper range - and it's very very difficult to achieve!

Yes, me too, actually! I'm a first soprano and can go very high, but we all had to sing the alto line in choir a while ago and I could hardly do that at all!

I've not been able to access the file, but if you need to practice getting lower and keeping a nice tone, try sining descending scales to [y]. As you go down, think of the tone broadening, and make sure you keep the support strong and the throat relaxed.
