sad.gif In measure 2 (2005-06 G8 Piano Exam Piece B2), I find it very difficult in playing the 16th note + ornament (mordent?) + 16th note's rest + one more 16th note. Same problem in measures 14 and 36. Could anyone advise me how I should practise it? Thanks.

I have editted my post before I saw your message. It's Piano G8.
Thanks.

Hiya.

I did this piece for my exam....Allegro Assai? I know which bits you mean...I can't find my book but its the mordents with Bb and Ab isn't it?

I play it differently from the cd but I usually do Bb AbBbAb I think, all in quick succession.

The key to this is not to rush. Try to develop your finger memory but playing it over and over agin VERY slowly, as the finger memory will defnitely help.

I'll reply again when I've found my book... ph34r.gif laugh.gif

Thanks for your advice. The problem with me is that when I play the mordent (Bb Ab Bb Ab), I did hit these two keys (with my 4th and 2nd fingers), but they didn't come out sharply. Then I have to continue immediately the melody line (G+Ab ... )(with my thumb and 2nd finger) with a 16th note's rest preceding. Again, the my problem is that 16th note's rest in between is not clearly shown. I can play out every note very slowly but I can hardly play these notes in the allegro assai tempo.

Anyway, thank you once again for your advice. I will keep trying. May I know your exam result/comment on this piece when it comes out?
