Well done to Everyone!

I thoroughly enjoyed the Concert and it was brilliant. It was great to meet up again....old faces and some new faces. Nat and I met up for the first time despite having chatted on msn for a couple of years now.

Must apologise to Hillyb about the "mess up". We had run through it a couple of times and it had gone swimmingly well...so well in fact,we had some fun playing through other pieces in the book. But our timing wasn't together in performance for some reason. blink.gif

We have exchanged phone numbers and hope to get together soon for a jam. I might even have a new pupil for HillyB.

Sam is a lovely gentleman and it was a honour for me to accompany him....I really appreciated his comment about Menuhin being 20 bars into a piece that they had performed for years, and it happened to them too.

I thought everyone performed wonderfully.

Thankyou All.

Thanks Semele, great to see you again too. I'll pass your comments on to Sam, I think he semed to fit in very well, just need to convince him to join the forum now (if the AB would accept new registrations).

Just got home and many thanks to everyone for a fantasitic day!

Had a nice night with my sister and one of my neices - we went to an indian restaurtant in Delph, which is a fantastic little spot.

Journey back to my house was prolonged by descision to go to the local pub en route home, thought a quick couple of pints might be in order, but for some bizarre reason all the local taxis were booked solid so ended up satying longer before finally getting a lift home.

A couple of photos - here's one of the performers

and here's one of Macx and Fiona

Really nice to see everyone, and it was a wondeful day. Fabulously impressed by the playing!

Will post some more photos tomorrow!!

YAP......wash your mouth out with soap and water

The verb "to be" is intrasitive and so does not take an object, let alone an indirect one!

"Who is who" is correct as who is always refering to the subject of the verb.

But "Who (subject) gave it (direct object) to whom (indirect object)"

Interesting. I was using the metric of substituting 'he' and 'him' in, and 'he's him' seemed quite sensible. Thanks for pointing that out smile.gif.

"He's him" is an intesting one - you are right "he is he" doesn't sount right!

To me "it is I" sounds OK but a bit pretentious whereas "it is me" sounds OK.

But ..."he gave it to me" and definately not "he gave it to I", which suggests that "it is me" must technically be wrong!

Anyway nice to meet you again, Very impressed by the formal attire!

Hehe, I'm amused the concert thread has turned into a linguistics one... yay!

FABULOUS, Thanks! The beret has done it for me, I'm going to buy one this afternoon and I shall wear it ONLY when playing the cello.

Now that sounds like a profile pic in the making laugh.gif

Follow the links for 'News Items' on the first one and 'Local Music in Tameside' for the second.

Not very good but here is the photo that the local paper took.

If anyone wants to know where to get a copy pm me for the link and photo reference.
(I didn't think that people would want anyone who drops in to have access to this).

That's a nice photo!

Here's a picture of the Buffet at Stalybridge Station. It really is an amazing little place and I recommend it to all participants of adult learners concerts!

I had a couple of hours to change trains en route home from Chethams, so waited there instead of Manchester. It's developing quite a link with music in my miind.
