Has anyone here heard of the American jazz composer, Dave Brubeck? He is a real music legend, I think? smile.gif
Some of his pieces that he has performed with his quartet are just so recognisable, I'm sure that you've at least heard one of his pieces. These are the pieces like Take Five, UnSquare Dance (the one they use in the Barclays advert) and Blue Rondo a la Turk.

It's a very special night for this man and his quartet tomorrow (Thursday 3rd June) because the people themselves will be performing LIVE at the Barbican Hall in London along with the London Symphony Orchestra! Wow, how great is that! In his own inimitable style, he'll be performing all the hits with the orchestra along with some other great items! cool.gif

Now I'm very excited because I'm one of the lucky people going to this one off concert! I've heard a lot of his music and it's just going to be a great opportunity to see the people who composed and performed these tunes themselves! I can't believe that the international quartet and composer were around during the times of other jazz legends such as Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Tony Bennett! The composer is in his eighties, so be aware!
It is going to be a great night, I think and I'm just wondering, is there anyone here who's going to the concert as well. It's tomorrow, so please let me know as soon as possible!

I just cannot wait! biggrin.gif

Violingirl, do you not think that perhaps next time you get to go to a concert this good, you can tell us more than 24 hours in advance so we can all go get tickets? I had no clue it was on.

Saw Dave Brubeck in Manchester about 6(?) years ago - surely he was about 80 years old then!
He came on stage very slowly and looked very frail but when he played there was certainly nothing frail about the music - should be a good night! smile.gif
