I've heard on a few threads about jazz flute exams coming out. I wondered whether anyone knew when the sylabuss is coming out or any other info. I've already searched the ABRSM website, but come up with nothing.

Thanks

I might try grade 1 jazz flute when it comes out. We await.

I'm quite excited at the prospect of a jazz syllabus, and also the thought of being able to get some more exam practice at "easy" grades - I need all the help I can get to get used to the terrible nerves, so I can actually do the classical last few grades at some point without falling apart with stress.

Yeah, me too, it would be interesting to see what kind of tunes they have.

Fingers crossed you'll do fine Sarah, when you do your higher grades. Fingers crossed the syllabus will come out soon ... biggrin.gif

I should be able to - I know technically and musically I'm capable of doing 6 now, (could have done it at Christmas) and of doing 7 and 8 in the not-too-insanely-distant-future - but when I almost put myself in for G6 it became a huge source of stress and made me ill sad.gif it's annoying! Exams didn't used to be so stressful when I did them as a child...

Oh dear. I know that sometimes I stress myself out about exams, why have I put myself in for it etc... But normally I manage to get around it.

Is that a specific Real Book or the treble clef C book? Libretto hasn't got here yet!

Was looking online yesterday, to find that LCM are now doing grades 6-8 jazz piano (from September this year), along with their diploma in jazz. This should be fun ... tongue.gif

Yes, their diplomas in jazz for piano look very interesting. I've bookmarked it. The problem might be to find a teacher to help you pass it and finding the time to practice. Food for thought though. smile.gif
