How can I make the ends of my notes beautiful?

How do you end them at the moment?

Not sure exactly what you want to do. What sort of sound do you feel you get at the moment Nicki?

Tone's great but sometimes I snatch at the ends of notes...

It seems obvious, but I think all you need to do Nicki is 'stop' at the end of your note - don't try to 'finish the note off'.

Dreadful description I know.....another bit of playing that if I could play it to you, I think you'd immediately understand.......

I tend to just stop the breath, don't do anything to cut it off (with tongue) and make a nice rounded note and stop the breath flow without any audible end. Or on recorder you can use a more flat tongue to the roof of your mouth as opposed to a normal tonguing movement which can cause a clunk.

I don't try and do anything at the moment...I do just stop!

.......so you have, for example, lovely flute tone, then immediately silence. Seems OK to me.......

I wonder, what exactly do you wish to achieve Nicki? (this would be a lot easier taught practically!....)

I probably don't end nicely, I am not sure. I'll record some note endings for you....
