Well, first glance, looks easy enough, can't imagine even the Allegretto being that fast really. But I've hit a few snags.

1) Top F# - MY RECORDER WON'T PLAY IT! I have to do a glissando to reach it with the fingering indicated in the book and back down, and it can be a hit or miss thing ph34r.gif

2) Tempo changes - even when marked, are any sections REALLY that much faster than the original lento?

3) Bar 1 - how do you suggest to indicate the pulse on that first long note (especially since I might do this as a duet with an oboist and me on piano)

4) Mordents - are these slow or fast?

5) C to D flat trill on the 2nd page 3rd line 2nd bar from end...how DO you do it?!

Thanks smile.gif

EDIT: regarding top F#, I might ask one of the SRC teachers to borrow their alto with a bell key to get round the problem smile.gif

Do you have a recorder teacher? Could they not advise?

Surely the E-D-E of whomever is the soloist will indicate the tempo? blink.gif

Failing that, counting in, or (more subtle) conducting a bar's worth of the tempo required, or the soloist giving an upbeat, would probably all help.

I was greatly helped by listening to a recording, as I didn't have an accompanist at the time and needed to get an idea of how the accompaniment sounded. Piers Adams's version on Shine and Shade is good.

I knee-stopped the F# at the bottom of the first page, and used the fake fingering for the quick one on the second page, and yes, the tempo changes are as indicated.

No what I mean is, are they actually a great deal faster/slower, or only subtle?

They're pretty clearly marked, or they are in my copy.... 44 to 56 is going to be relatively subtle, moving up to con moto won't be... if they're as marked, follow the markings... (unless I have drastically missed something here....... unsure.gif blink.gif)

1. I used my knee for both F#s! How's your balance? tongue.gif

2. Most tempo changes are subtle, the top of the 2nd page is the most different I suppose. Listen to the recording!

3. Practise. Give the accompanist the recordings. I usually indicate the chord move with my recorder, seems to work fine. Once the accompanist knows it, it'll work fine.

4. Where abouts are the mordents? I can't remember! I'll get my copy out in a bit.

5. Ahh I know this! I'll post the fingering soon when I get my copy down.

Give me 10 mins...
