Does anybody know where I can find alternative performances of piano pieces by Ludovico Einaudi and where I could download them - this is very important as it is for my A Level Performance Interpretation Presentation. If anyone has any that they could send to me (my e-mail is oldkingcrawley@hotmail.com) it would be much appreciated as I have been struggling for weeks trying to find alternate performances of any Einaudi piece.
Many thanks,
M Crawley

What do you mean "alternative performances"? Do you mean a recording of somebody other than Einaudi himself playing the pieces?
Welcome to the forums!

Watch out about giving out your email - I'm sure nobody here would misuse it but sometimes spam scanners that search the web can pick them up!!

Woo Einaudi!!
Sadly I have no ideas unless you explain what 'alternative performances' are...

Do you mean different interpretations, realisations? I suppose you could search Altavista.

You won't find any on the web, not legally anyway. Since Einaudi has not yet been dead for 70 years (indeed he is still alive) his music is still subject to performing rights law and cannot be freely distributed.

I know of lots of people who have had this problem... the A-Level exam board assumes you'll choose pieces where there are hundreds of different recordings to choose from but if you do anything vaguely original, sometimes it can be hard to find one recording, let alone something that contrasts with that!
Last year, I had a friend who had found one recording of the trumpet sonata he was doing but couldn't find any other recordings so me and my friend recorded it and he used that. It doesn't have to be a commercial recording.

Some Einaudi stuff is around grade 5 ish so you could always try and get a few people to do recordings for you..if it's not post grade 8 stuff then it shouldn't be that hard to find people who could play it for you

I don't think there are any commercially produced recordings because of copyright (someone correct me if I'm wrong!), you'd have to make your own, but there are lots of Einaudi CD's avaliable if it was different pieces rather than different recordings as Nat suggested

Thanks very much for all your help. It looks like I am going to have to stick to my original plan which was Chopin's Preludes. I'm only going to be playing 7 minutes worth of music now and the board asks for 12-15, but thats still 4 pieces. Sorry for being vague about the 'alternate performances' I was in a bit of a rush looking for some...
Thanks everyone for your help.

You could do a few variations on the raindrop prelude...my version is 7 minutes long and I'm told that's around the right speed - so 2 or 3 of them would quite easily make up the 15 minutes

If I'm getting the idea... :s

I've decided upon Preludes:
#4: In E Minor
#6: In B Minor
#7: In A Major
and
#20: In C Minor
I picked a couple of the more popular ones to play (4 and 20) origionally, as well as a waltz in C# Minor, however due to the amount of work I had to do I could not learn it in time. I have more or less learned #7 today and so that leaves tomorrow and the day after to learn #6, which is probably the hardest of the three to perform well.
If I'd have asked a few months ago, the Raindrops Prelude would be a great choice for me to have done, so thanks very much for that idea - I just might learn that Prelude after my recital is out of the way.

The waltz is gorgeous if it's the one I'm thinking of - I've only bashed through the first two pages, it's on my 'to do' list for the summer! Raindrop prelude is great - you should learn if after the exams!

The 'bashy' section is also very theraputic...
EDIT: the E minor one is gorgeous too! I haven't learn it properly but I can just about bash my way through it!
Matt I think your decision is a good one.
You should be able to find plenty of recordings of the preludes to compare. May I suggest that one of them is the Horowicz. Love them or loathe them they were highly regarded at the time and aould provide a suitable contrast to a more modern recording.
