This sounds so random, but I heard an excerpt of a Janacek orchestral piece a few months back and loved it, have wondered about whether there's anything for flute (or piano actually, come to think of it...)
I've browsed a few sheet music sites but no luck so far, just wondered if anyone knew of any pieces!

Argh. I am almost 100% certain that I read a post about a Janacek flute piece in a post on a flute list earlier on today, but I don't remember which one and how old it was.

Will keep looking! Though I got the impression it was a seriously advanced piece...

edit: 5 seconds after I posted I found it and... wrong composer, d'oh!

Sorry.

aww, thank you anyway for looking!
I should probably find a site on Janacek instead it might help! He writes for orchestra, not sure about anything else though...I might be able to find a piano one but not sure about flute unless its a transcription thingy! :s

There is a freaky Janacek piece for piccolo.......something about a march of the somethings.....sorry did it at RCM but cant remember what it was called now. Pretty fast and scary!

Haha wow thankyou both of you! smile.gif It probably was scary but the piece I heard was really nice! (though our head of music said it was very 'hard going' - she played it with her orchestra) I'll ask my teacher tommorrow and see if she's ever heard of anything! smile.gif

Ooh hang on I did a really good Janacek work in a youth orchestra a while back.....could have been Psalmus Hungaricus (sp). Think that was the composer?

Nope, that was Kodaly. Sorry!
