To start off, I am a senior in highschool playing orchestral Tenor trombone. I am interested in learning the cello as a second instrument just for fun and for educational purposes. As for my learning process, I am interested in purchasing a cello. Looking to spend Up to $700, what are some good brands, models, what should i be looking for?
ps. a $200 cello will suffice if it has a pretty tone

To be honest, in that price range, you'd probably be best off getting a rental to start off with. Then when you're sure you want to continue, you can get something more substantial. Rentals are really cheap (in the UK, about £10, but I think reading US boards, that you can pick one up for about the same in dollars).
Renting a cello may fit your budget a bit more~
As what I did. I rented to own- perhaps you can find a plan like that at any violin shop around. Grant it, I had to rent for 7 years to get mine (at 30$ a month) but it is well worth it, and if you find you don't like the cello enough, you can just send it back.
But, I'm sure you'll love it just fine.
