I would like to know what's the highest mark (out of possible 150) people could actually receive from ABRSM piano exam in reality. I think it's impossible to get 150, correct?
Did anyone ever get 30 out of 30 for the pieces?

Almost every year, my students got 30 in one of the exam pieces.
I think many candidates can get 30 and it's not too rare. To certain extent, getting 30 marks does not imply the one who performs the piece professionally.
In lower grades, it's much more easier to get full marks (in pieces) for sure.
Playing the notes all correct and detailed the musical aspects

may gain you full mark.
Concerning 150 the highest mark, I've seen an examiner posting in her examiner's profile that she got full marks. She then received a scholarship which leads her study in one of the Royal Schools.

There are students from my music school got very high marks. Some gained 30 or 29 for their pieces and yet they got 138-145 for total. By the way, they are not doing the lower grade but grade 6, 7 and 8.

I wondered if examiners do take into consideration the age of a candidate? For example, in sight reading, a 10 year old grade 1 can mentally prepare better that a 6 year old sight reader. Would the S/R exam paper be just the same for all grade 1 candidates? A 10 year old child would be in year 5 preparing for his/her KS 2 exam., whilst a six year old chiild is only in year 1...and just learning how to spell brother and mother.
My 6 year old daughter prepared all her grade 1 requirements in 12 weeks time only and got a very good merit grade. Although she is really good with her note reading and values/clapping and confident, too, in finding her place on the keys, sadly she failed S/R by 2 points. She was very pleased and very proud with her marks....I wish I was her examiner! I think she deserved a distinction!

I'd love 2 get full marks on 1 of my pieces!!I've had full marks in sightreading a few times, full marks in scales and full marks in aurals but never in a piece. The highest in a piece i've had is 29. I got 29 in all my grade 8 pieces and in 2 of my grade 7 pieces for sax. I got 29 on 1 of my grade 8 pieces for oboe and 29 on 2 of my grade 7 flute pieces.
The highest mark i've had is 143 for grade 8 sax and I was soo pleased for I got the same mark as my sax teacher.
Anyone who has got 30/30 on a piece I applaude you!

137 in grade 2, when I was 16.
I've had a few marks of 29 (not just in piano) and full marks in scales, aural and sight reading, although sadly not all in the same exam, as that would make for a very nice mark! My last exam was grade 4 singing and I had full marks in both aural and sight reading, but still got merit overall (127) which I was happy with. One of my sax students got 30/30 for a grade 5 piece (Saxsequential) a couple of years ago, which thrilled me, but also annoyed me because when I played it for my grade 5 I'd received 29!!! He did suck up to me by saying it was because he was so well taught though, and I later found out it was really because he shut his eyes and swayed around to the music, prompting the comment "You put your heart and soul into this performance", on the mark sheet. But as the chief examiner has pointed out, 30/30 is exceptionally rare. It's certainly never happened to me, in 26 or 27 exams.

My highest piano mark...well it wasn't with AB, I did my first 2 piano exams with Guildhall and lost 6 and 12 marks overall. My jazz piano exams were with AB and my best mark was 132. Not so great. I did get 27/28/28 in the pieces but generally did badly in the aural that time.
My piano playing's not exactly great though

Hi pianoman 84!

Yeah I live in NZ so maybe our exams are at different times of the year here? Are you in the UK?
Also you need 100 to pass, 120 to get merit and 130 to get distinction in AB exams.
