AHHHHH..............
I can't do Aurul!!!!
I can't sing especially the "sing the lower part" thing.
Problem 1: I can't hear it.
Problem 2: I can't remember.
Problem 3: I can't sing!!!!And keep singing the upper part!
HELP!!!
Sight reading is also another problem.

Don't worry- you can pass without the singing the lower part thing!
In my grade 7 piano last term, I couldn't remember it so the examiner played it a third time at my request- very grudgingly- and I still couldn't remember it so I just sang a completely different tune!
And I still got 14 on the aural and a merit for the whole exam biggrin.gif

Hi... please don't panic... i have a student having the same problem...too..... only difference is that she can't sing a melody (she was supposed to remember the melody, and sing it back to me..IN TUNE!...but she can't do it).... with singing the lower part...just practice that at home.. play 2 notes at the same time, and sing the lower part.... you just have to get used to it that's all.....

I think that musical sense is a very important issue.
If you think you are not good at this, you can listen to more music and try to sing the counter-melody of some melodies.

I know I can past, it's just that I know my teacher wants me to get distinction. I am not very confident, I think I will get merit but my teacher might get disappointed. I got 120 for G.6 and form the she looks, I know she's mad.gif .

Not sure it's very reasonable for your teacher to expect so much when you don't seem to have been prepared properly for all parts of the exam!!
If she really wanted you to get distinction I would have thought it better to not enter you until she has taught you ALL you need.

I did have a problem with disappointed teachers too.
My piano teacher would have been livid if I got merit for grade 5 but when I came out of grade 7 I thought I did so badly that she was prepared for the worst... so she was actually pleasantly surprised when I got merit- so was I. It was my first merit- always distinction before- but it didn't sting as much as I thought it might because I was already so sure I wouldn't even make a merit that I was just overjoyed.
If your teacher's mad.gif that you got merit in grade 6, I find that rather strange. Even having reached the "post grade-5s" is an achievement!
Don't worry- I'm sure you'll do great if you just stop worrying about what your teacher thinks.

She said my pieces and scales were ok already but she said that the examiner will definitely pick on my singing and sight reading. I have 1st trail exam today. I will see my marks then. I just practice my sight reading. I can do sight-singing, I just can't hear the lower part of the first Aurul test. I will just have to my best and see how far I can go. Hopefully in the real exam, the rest will pull me up.

Thanks for all your advice guys....wish me luck! smile.gif

I have just started doing sight singing for my clarinet but I get so nervous doing in front of my teacher that I either go really sharp or really flat!
