I hesitate to confess to this but...The Stones' "Wild Horses" as sung by Susan Boyle
I only clicked on it out of morbid curiosity as I couldn't quite fit Mick Jagger and Susan Boyle into the same mental picture but actually it's very good...

Swan of Tuonela. Just magical, so haunting. But one of those pieces I have to ration myself on, I'm afraid that if I heard it too often it might start to lose the magic. It's almost one of those pieces that should always creep up on you unexpectedly, rather than being deliberately chosen!
In the same way, I really love Finzi's eclogue. But I wish I could rewind to the fourth or fifth time (very approx) I heard it - I'd heard it a few times on the radio a few times without thinking that much of it, then it began to get under my skin and one day I just realised how fabulous it was, the way it gradually unwinds and blossoms. After that I got a recording so could listen to it when I chose rather than it happening ot come on teh radio, and probably listened too much. I still love it, and having learned (just!) to play it I hear new things in it, but I'll never get that occasion back again. Really it needs to be autumn, early dawn, in the countryside to listen to it properly.
Just as for the Swan you should really be walking in a forest in Finland when you turn a corner and see a moonlit pond with a black swan on it.... um, hang on, that would probably mean you'd died according to folkore of Tuonela so probably not that great after all.

That's what I said to my mum, but no, cake had to be made now otherwise the bananas would go off.

I spent the rest of the morning sorting through all my piano music to decide what to take with me and arranging it into an orderly pile, and I've located all my recorders' cases, so packing has now officially begun.

Are you making banana bread?
Lovely - one of my favourites. The good / bad thing about banana bread is that it goes stale quite quickly, so unfortunately you will have to eat it all within two days max. What a disaster!

It is banana bread.

I've never seen one go stale though, they generally get eaten within a day or so.
