Do your recordings come with a health warning stamped across the front cover? unsure.gif

I'm listening to the Suite Changing Moods by Christopher Steel which ends with Dancing Toccata, so at least there's one word with which Fran*Piano can identify! biggrin.gif

(EDIT: Just noticed that the number of my posts is 3010. A certain generation will recognise 0.3010 as 'log 2'. biggrin.gif )

Nah, there's only a health warning if you're in the cradle, with I'm fortunately a bit big for! biggrin.gif

The Proms - Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand - one of the first piano concerto scores I ever bought. I just couldn't believe that the whole thing was just being played with one hand, so had to see the score for myself; the local library didn't have a copy, so I was forced to buy the score - the start of my collection! smile.gif

I loved the performance. I'm not a pianist but maybe I'd give my right arm to be able to play like that. biggrin.gif

A boxed set I found in the shed at the weekend called Easy Listening with Bert Kaemfert and James Last.

Gauntanamera, Wimoweh, Havah Nagilah...

It's brilliant, I never realised my parents had such great taste in music.

The soundtrack to the movie "Once". It won an oscar for best original song in a movie, a non-flashy, real, and simply delightful movie!

The music is really easy to improvise to on the piano.

I'm not a particular follower, I don't feel the need for Sky in order to watch Test Matches, but TMS is the voice of the summer and radio does allow you to carry on with other things - albeit not playing the piano! This particular match however, has been well worth following, at least from an England point of view. The fact that it has managed to keep me from the piano over the last couple of days means that it has done its job, to entertain! biggrin.gif

For the annual school 'Activities Week' one member of staff always combined two activities, ice-skating and swimming - one in the morning, then the other in the afternoon. It was very popular and at least to start with it appeared to be chosen by all the more challenging pupils, shall we say. I likened it to a St.Trinian's outing! laugh.gif

For some time now and possibly back then, that has been an unfair assessment, to be honest, but one thing he did do was invite children to bring to the front of the coach cassette-tapes of music to put on during the journey to the venues. So, next to the driver there would accumulate this stack of tapes.

I went along on several occasions, to help out with staff supervision and also because although I don't ice-skate (heaven forbid), I do like a swim.

One of his own favourites on the journey, which he always played, was indeed 'Bat Out of ****', which to me seemed most appropriate! laugh.gif

From the same CD, the First Arabesque by Debussy (yes, that one, the one composed for piano). It actually sounds quite good, making use of the Flute harmonique stop. it's not a transcription, just a straight transfer using the colours of the organ and the swell pedals.
