Intercession by James McMillan for 3 oboes. Played by Pipers 3.
oooh... is that from a CD I think I spotted on Oboe Classics? A worthwhile purchase?
Yes it's fabulous. A lovely combination of old (Boismortier, Beethoven) and new (the McMillan, Amy - "Jeux", possibly my favourite, and others).
Whilst you are browsing there, I would also heartily recommend:
New Noise, Frozen River Flows (8 zillion stars)
Emily Pailthorpe, Though Lovers be Lost (THE Britten Temporal Variations performance and a fabulous Poulenc)
A wonderful exploration of the Britten 6 Metamorphoses by George Caird
and (if you saw Melinda Maxwell at IDRS in Birmingham and enjoyed it) the Birtwistle Orpheus Elegies.
