Beethoven "Pathetique" (for the 3rd time in a row!!!). I only knew the second movement and right now I am amazed that I actually really like the 3 movements as usually there's always one movement I'm not too keen on in Beethoven's sonatas.

Janet Baker singing 'but who shall abide' from the Messiah. Wonderful.
Having relatively recently converted from soprano to Mezzo, I find that though I had to do a lot of 'letting go' in terms of reperoire, I can revel in some really wonderful new role models - Janet Baker being the top of my list at the moment, from the days when singers were proper grown up women, not delicate young blonde wraiths... also the fabulous Bernarda Fink et al.

I was in the living room and an advert came on which had Vivaldi's Summer (presto) from the Four Seasons on it.
And it was utterly soul-less. The notes were there, in the right place (along with some drums...) but there wasn't any music in it, if you know what I mean.
So now I am blissfully listening to Red Priest play the Four Seasons, as they have a tad of passion about them
