I'm toying with giving this to myself as a 'well done for finishing your phd' present...
Anyone going or been before?

I've never been but I've heard it's good. I'm gonna go along sometime...

Hi Meerkat
Congratulations on your PhD.
I was toying with the idea but decided probably not because:
1) I play pathetically in front of my teacher compared to how I play at home so goodness knows what I'd be like in front of a group
2) I got the impression that one should have experience playing with others which I don't have apart from a few duets a million years ago with my old, old teacher.
But then I sort of argue that going along would help both (1) and (2) above.
I really have no idea...sorry to be of absolutely no help!

Congratulations are premature, sadly - but this is about 3 weeks after my hand in date, so good time to go!
I had exactly the same debate with myself gwu, and then decided that the advantages of full (rather anxiety laden) immersion in playing round other people would outstrip the costs (abject humiliation when my fingers turn to rubber when I try to play...). So, I've decided I'm going. Why don't you join me? It couldn't be in a nicer place...

Oh dear Meerkat, your invitation has got me thinking about it again. I'm feeling jittery just thinking about it! How ridiculous!
I'm sure attending would improve my guitar playing exponentially and it would be nice to sort of know one person there but I just don't know....I'm going to have a think!

It would be nice to go and I would love to go myself but i'm awaiting my grade 8 exam date which will be at the end of July sometime so i'm told. I think it best to keep concentrating on the job in hand......Maybe next year

I'd like to go if I could make any sense of the information on the website. What did you put on the booking form Meerkat?

I actually phoned them and did it that way! They took all my booking details on the phone. Probably a better strategy. The website is very poor. They do have a load of printed information too, which my guitar teacher had, and that is much easier to follow.

I'm glad about that - I thought I was being dense! I'll call them. Thanks

From gwu's profile I reckon we just need to lay a trail of cream cakes and chocolates along the M4 ...
