I'm always really nervous exams (even if they don't mean anything, I feel sick thinking about my General Studies exam in a couple of hours). During the exams it is definitely nerve wracking, and I can only feel it is the "time to shine" when I have my results and have done OK.

Actually, I am more nervous when I am about the receive the results than when sitting for the exam.
Anyway, good luck, my mid-term exams finish on wednesday! Finally, after 3 weeks of suffering!

At school and university, I remember always being more nervous when I'd revised really well for an exam and had the potential to do well in it. If I hadn't revised for an exam then I didn't feel nervous about it at all.
For career exams, I was always very nervous for a number of reasons - I'd always revised hard for them, the exams were so difficult in comparison to any other exams I'd done before, the payrise was sometimes linked to exam passes and sometimes, if you didn't pass, you'd be booted out of your job. Just typing about it reminds me of what a hideous time that was!

A big long stretch of 'what on earth am I doing?!?!' then I mess up the exam, try and forget about it, fail, get bad marks and then I get to do fun stuff in lessons so I forget about it more then!

Never a time to shine - I always feel that I have to live up to the grade I'm doing, and I never do!

Exam is definitely a period to shine if you've put the work in, but for me, practical exams will always be a no-no. I just don't like exams that you can't rub out halfway through and start again!

At the time of the exam I always feel as if I'm doing well, but then afterwards I never feel like I've done anywhere near as well as I could have done. For me, the only time to shine is when you've got the results sheet infront of you

Yes, I agree fully!
The only time I feel really happy and proud is when I see a Distinction. (not border-line case)

Normally it'd be oh no for me but for my practical on tuesday I'm feeling quietly confident and know that if I just try and keep calm I can go in there and knock their socks off (and intend to do so!). This is a very new feeling for me but I know I can do it so fingers crossed! Now the presentation on friday is a very different matter!
