Hi everyone!
Just wonderin if anyone out there is taking the grade 3 descant recorder exam soon.
If so, what pieces are you playing? my favourites are 'paragon rag' and 'tower hill'
Just a matter of interest because I don't know anyone else my age who plays recorder (I'm 16)

I'm 16 and play descant and treble recorder, so you are not alone. I don't have much time to practise it however, notably because of doing so much for flute, and of course GCSE's!
I've never taken any recorder exams though, but one day (as and when I get time...) I hope to!

No you aren't alone, I've been playing the recorder since I was tiny and now I'm 15 and grade 8; and I play sopranino, descant, treble, tenor and bass! I used recorder for my music GCSE perfomances and I consider it as my main instrument and I like it the best.
Although a lot of people think that the recorder is easy and baby's instrument it isn't, because it is an old instrument it isn't as technologically advanced as others and this makes it a lot harder to play in some ways. So never let any one tell you otherwise or make fun of you for playing it.
Never stop playing!

I have the same feeling when I doing on Recorder.
TOO MANY people think that's a very easy stuff!~
Very unhappy.....
I just having a "great" hope that people could be understand Recorder is a great instrument with simple Machism and still doing very very very very good music pieces!

I never realised there were so many of us around my age, on this message board that played recorder!! I'm slightly stunned.
I would definetly say recorder is harder to play than flute, (tho that might be because I so rarely actually practise seriously for recorder) because it is so difficult to get any kind of dynamic contrast from a recorder (and it's hard enough to get some from the flute at times!) and also, the flute has keys so there are no worries about not covering a hole properly!
