Hi
I have just bought my 9 year old a basic acoustic guitar. She plays trombone to about Grade 4 standard and baritone to Grade 2 standard and recorder to prelim level. She enjoys music and gets particular pleasure from singing - hence her insterest in having a go at the guitar (she wants to accompany herself!)

I am not looking for lessons for her on the guitar because I would like it to be complete relaxation so I need some advise on a tutor book that will start her off and allow her to progress without the aid of a teacher. Being a brass teacher I have no idea where to start! Can anyone suggest some books for her?

Thanks
meerkat
When you say she wants to accompany herself does she want to learn chord structures, or does she want to read from music (e.g. a more classical style)? And is it electric or acoustic she wants to play?

probably everything - but for now, maybe some basic chords so that it doesn't seem too much like "learning" an instrument
