Hello everyone. As this is the place for new members I thought that I would start it off by telling you a little bit about myself as I'm still quite new!
I've been working at the Associated Board since the end of March and before that I worked for Classic FM for three years.
I've played the piano and sung since the age of about 7 but don't get enough time to practise these days...which is a shame. My scariest moment was singing Verdi's Requiem with a choir at the Royal Albert Hall and being right up at the top of the choir stalls......and when I looked down realising exactly how high up I was and also how there was nothing preventing me from falling off!
So that's a little bit about me, what about you?

Hi Nicki
I produced their website, writing content, designing pages and running competitions etc and also worked on events such as Classic FM Live at the Royal Albert Hall, looking after artists and making sure they got on stage at the right time - nervewracking! I also used to take the phonecalls for Lunchtime Requests on a Sunday. It's a very small team so everyone does a bit of everything!

Hmmm...not sure this is working quite right. If everyone posts to this thread then we will end up with another long CISD-like thread.
I think newcomers ought to start a new thread with a bit about themselves and then we can reply to the thread with our welcomes, and maybe finding some common ground to "chat" about so they feel at home. Everyone will got lost in the depths of a long thread if we just keep adding to this one.
Does this sound right? Any new people out there wanting to start a new thread??

I think that's right Jane, in other forums, people start a new thread to say "Hi, I'm new

"

Perhaps each time a newbie joins they could start a thread with their username as the title...

I have successfully infered from this hat we never actually get any new members...
We have successfully alienated the whole world populace! Hurrah for us!

Personally, I feel that this "New Members" part of "Forums Cafe" does not have very good response.
It's quite a waste of space.
Anyone agreeing to my view?

I think this is because we haven't had many if any new members!

So how about if some "old" members start the ball rolling with their threads (like abrown has done) so at least any new people will get the general idea, and won't feel intimidated about their's being the only new thread here?

I've just had a quick check to see if I can create a new topic, and I can't either.
I wonder if this is because I'm an 'old' member, or whether it's because the 'start new topic' button has been disabled?

I think it's because the new topic button has been disabled. Similar to what happened to the Games Zone however that problem has now been rectified (in the Games Zone).

Is it not an option to find out if we can do anything about this?

I've had a quick check and it appears you can now post new topics in the new members area.
