I teach piano/violin and learnt sax/flute/clarinet as a child. My son is learning the drum kit and I have started to learn along side him.

You would think it would be quite easy to play the drum kit as there arent really any notes. How wrong was I? He has been learning since January and I have been practising the old things with him, recently I decided to keep up with him. Trying to get all 4 limbs co-ordinated in perfect time is very tricky. I can do everything slowly and read the music but as soon as I try and speed it up, my hands/feet get in a muddle. Like all things more practise helps and after a month I am getting alot better.

It definitely isnt as easy as it looks !!

Any one else here learn drum kit or is anyone here self taught?

Can anyone recommend some good drum kit music with good CD backing to play too? about grade 4/5 standard.
