At grade 4 they give the candidate 4 bars of a piece of music, with then a following 4 bars of left hand only, which the candidate has to improvise on. It states that there's only 4 bars of improvisation, yet the pieces always have "etc" at the end of them. I presumed this was just to show that ordinarily (i.e. not in an exam situation) the music would carry on. Any thoughts/can anyone back my theory up?!!

I think this is the case, that is what I am going on anyway ... I have my grade 4 jazz piano wednesday! Just continue for four bars ... this is what I will be doing.
