Greetings All;
I have a quick question about the jazz piano exams.
How long will the current grade 1 repetoire requirements be in effect for ?
For example, the current classical grade 1 repetoire will be expired at the end of 2005 and in 2006 students will have to play the new repetoire requirement .
What is the situation with the current jazz piano repetoire ?
Sincerely
Stephen

When I last spoke with Charlie Beale about it (2 years ago) they had plans to publish the higher grades (6, 7 & 8) next. But this could not be put into action until they had completed and published the 'Jazz Wind/Frontline Syllabus'. Since this was indeed completed and released last year, then, I presume they will be turning their attention to the higher jazz piano grades. Therefore it seems unlikely that new books of grades 1 - 5 pieces will be published for some years. (Other factors affect things: they may for example choose to devise a syllabus for jazz guitar; based on the success of the Jazz Piano Syllabus). Perhaps ABRSM could let this email news group know???
I continue to help develop a jazz piano uk education forum on jazzpianoteachersassociation.org.uk Robert Webb

Thanks for your input Robert
I am pleased to hear that the ABRSM are continuing their efforts with the Jazz exams. And also that the jazz piano exams have been a success.
(I will check out your site)
