I've been watching a DVD of Japanese drum group Kodo's One Earth world tour. It's just amazing.

Anybody seen or heard any Japanese drumming?

Yes. Fascinating!

Of course ! one of those old tapes that comes out of the back of a cupboard from time to time. Tape is getting a bit stretched by now.
But Cook Island kerosene tin drumming really perks me up !!!!

Yes, it's the exposure to Cook Island drumming that made it harder for me to be impressed with Kodo earlier on - not that there's anything wrong with their drumming, just that it's more familiar and less startling if you have heard any Polynesian drumming.

Their latest DVD comes with an audio CD which could conceivably be carried on an airplane... .
