When you were little did you ever make "clip-clop" horse sounds using your tongue against the roof of your mouth? The "clop" syllable is a bit like slap tongueing. You create a vacuum with the reed against the mouthpiece and releasing it creates the sound rather than blowing through the instrument. It's easier with the bigger saxophones so bari is easier than tenor is easier than alto etc. It's something I can occasionally get right on tenor but not with enough consistency to ever risk trying to use it in performance. I've heard it performed on several occasions by people with a lot more skill than me.
That sounds pretty complicated! My technique only stretches to the recorder and possibly flute!
