Talking of older names my daughter is planning on naming my grandchild to be Agnes Alice (they said it was a girl as far as they could tell from the scan).

My brother and sister in law joked, when they were expecting their first child, that they would name her after her grandmothers if she was a girl...Gladys Nora unsure.gif ohmy.gif

She was (is) a girl, but they named her Joanne, (relief all round), and she is now expecting their first grandchild.

PS only hint on names so far from Jo is that they want to call him Archie if he's a boy, but are a bit concerned about people thinking they named him after our dog laugh.gif

QUOTE(noodle @ Jul 5 2006, 09:29 AM) *

That girl can YELL. There was nothing musical or tuneful in that performance and the choice of song was wrong for an 11 year old. Like Amber, I would be concerned for her voice in the long term - if she keeps going like that, she won't have a voice by the time she's 16.

QUOTE(sarah-flute @ Jul 6 2006, 11:34 PM) *

It was... scary. Yes, she has a big voice. But I can't say I enjoyed it much. And I agree with the others, one wonders what will happen to her voice if she's encouraged to keep singing that way.

QUOTE(Cyrilla @ Jul 7 2006, 05:02 PM) *

I SO agree with the old-lady rants about this girl, her voice and the too-quick growing up of today's children...

I could quote a number of other similar posts on this thread, but I do agree with the sentiments in the posts I've quoted above.

PS. We'd better tell Christine we've got the ABRSM's marketing sorted out for next year. It's calendars all round!

OH NO! What I have I started? I am now running through ideas of instruments to pose with - I can't think of one that will fit all me behind it! I know, I'll pose behind the percussion section - nothing tacky mind! Something tasteful, I might even take me curlers out - perhaps a touch of secretary blue eyeshadow, but not too much (not like these young girls, mind, going round with more make-up on than an ICI beagle...shocking)

tea anyone?

Sigh, I suppose I should conform to my age...a purple raincoat sad.gif
rosfrog
Earl Grey all round it is, although I think I've dropped a clip on pearl earring into one cup... sorry.

I'm off to stand at a bus stop and tell random strangers how old I am, really loudly when they're not expecting it. If that doesn't work I'll shout 'I've got cataracts' at them until they push off and I can have a swift nip of the lager they leave behind...

Mind you, I'm not one for drinking - just a schooner of sherry at weddings and funerals. And by sherry I mean whisky, obviously. And by schooner I mean bottle. And by weddings and funerals I mean 'I'm old enough to be your grandmother, I can drink when I like'...

Oh! I thought for a minute you meant a purple skirt and jacket made of tweed curtain material, Dorothy.
