Until people have seen the TG material don't dismiss it out of hand. The current Trinity aural tests I actually percieve as harder than the AB ones.

I think this seem to be the case especially from experience.

Both my girls failed Aural on the Trinity Joint Assesment even though they went to appropriate classes. One is fine with Aural generally the other only struggles with pitch tests. The most either of them have dropped are 2 marks on AB. I'm waiting to see how they did with Grade 4 sight singing but they did practise.

The fact that you learn exercises and less scales in more ways appeals to me as I have now learnt quite a lot of scales for my exam but don't really feel that they can be used well in a musical context as such, whereas I think exercises could be more beneficial for me - learning techniques in a piece rather than separate exercises which usually don't relate that much to the music, unless you have scalic passages and the like.
That's just my opinion though...

How did you find out what the scales are for the new Trinity Guildhall syllabus? They're not listed on the website, except to mention that they've changed from the previous Trinity or Guildhall lists.

The piano ones are listed but the oboe ones aren't - presumably from your remark, the violin ones aren't either.
