At the moment i am working on piece 47 from '76 graded studies for flute' and I am a bit confused as to where i breathe...? I haven't actually managed to get it up to One quaver = 132 as written by the composer considering its all in semiquavers... , but when i do it as quickly as i can which is about 116 I feel like it is interupting the 'flow' (if anyone understand me blink.gif ). Does anyone else have this problem or have any ideas on breathing in this piece?

i havent started on that...but i do have another Q relating to this!

that graded studies for flute...

is that similar to fingering studies? like Czerny on the piano..?

because i want to find something similar for the flute...

I have that book, and although on the front it says 76 graded studies, there are not actually 76 there are less. I think i have the right book here or am I on the wrong train of thought.

hi

number 47 in that book is a pig!

i think my teacher encouraged me to try and breathe to the double bar line!! aah, bt if u stretch a little bit further each time, u'll soon get there! if not, i think in the end i ended up sneakily breathing at the end of bar 4? its maybe a good idea to breathe just before you get to notes such as B flat, and middle register high notes which start the bar like that!

and just see what your teacher says!

good luck!

If you want technical exercises for flute you could start with the series of Trevor Wye books - ask around and maybe borrow them to look at. smile.gif

You could just keep practising the scales in lots of different keys for now! wink.gif

I don't have one at the moment because I have left school and haven't started college yet!
