Thanks,
Cheers,

Not as far as I know for violin but for strings there is the Strad and Strings. The Strad is more classical based and has some articles on making and repairing stringed instruments too. Strings is a bit more folk / fiddle based I think. Google them and you might find on-line versions.

The Strad has a similar format to Pianist, partly because they are both published by the same company, Orpheus.

Each issue of The Strad has a range of articles which are equally of interest to string players, luthiers, collectors or simply armchair enthusiasts. There are usually a few bits about making or construction - help for the amateur maker perhaps? - featured artists and various topics that are of interest to anyone interested in stringed instruments or the music written for them. News pages telling you about what's going on in the string world, reveiws of new CDs or recent concerts and Simon Fischer also features each month with his 'Basics', covering technical issues in playing. You also get a free summer school brochure detailing summer schools not just in the UK, but around the world too, a copy of The Strad Directory, which lists luthiers and dealers from around the world, free sheet music (if there is a particular article about a composer), plus two free posters a year featuring some beautiful photos and full details of well-known violins/violas/celli.

All in all, well worth the £40 a year subscription.
