Like most of you I am waiting
patiently impatiently for results of exams taken earlier this month. The exam was over 2 weeks ago now but still no sign of the result online. The issue of exams is not a simple matter - if it were, then results would be issued exactly 2 weeks or 3 weeks from the date of the exam. Is it compounded by other factors - when the examiner leaves the area, delays in the administrative side. No, I've come to the conclusion that the issue of results is irregular - I know people who did their exam after mine and have their result already.

Royal Academy of Dance exam results take about 6 weeks... so I suppose we can't complain too much.
One daughter did a dance exam in same week as another did AB exam... AB result came back last week after just over 2 weeks.... ballet exam mark not expected till the end of the month!!!!

I'm waiting for just 1 result from the 20th June - over 2 weeks ago. I feel sorry for the students because it is such a long and unpredictable waiting game. I've had results take 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks, but also times when they've taken 3 ir 4 days. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason to it. I suppose we should be grateful, as has already been said, dance exam results can take up to 3 months to arrive!

I too am awaiting results.
my pupil also took a piano exam with another teacher 3 days before her violin exam and she has already got this back!!??? And I'm still waiting.
There does not seem to be any pattern to it.
But as you say dance exams take longer - my daughters last exam took over 3 months to come back!!

I think they take longer proportionally to how stressed one is about the result. I had to wait far longer for my flute exam the year before last than my G1 challenge on the recorder!

Do you find the results are taking longer these days? I seem to remember in my first few years of teaching the results were back within a fortnight without fail!!! And occasionally back after only one week!!! Last time I entered pupils it took 3 weeks, and this time so far it's just over the fortnight and no sign online or in the post...... I was really excited when I saw it would be possible to get the results online earlier, but gee whizz! One day earlier???? It's hardly worth it.......(Or are the results sent out 2nd class post???

When I was learning & taking exams regularly, results often took a month to get back! Now, it's usually 2-3 weeks. I tell students it's usually three weeks so they don't start calling every day! I wish the theory ones could be hurried along though

In the spring term all my results seemed to appear more quickly than this term. I'm wondering has it something to do with the individual breakdown of marks being available too - it must take longer to add the marks for 6 sections of each exam than candidate xxxxx Grade xx 125 Merit or whatever. Even so, it still doesn't explain how some candidates can have a result 13 days after their exam and other candidates are still waiting for results 18 days later.... It is a most unfair system. Candidates should receive their results in the order they take their exams so someone who took an exam on 19th June should receive their result 5 days before someone who took and exam on 23rd June, not 5 days after.
As for the post, results are sent out first class. A colleague and I had candidates take exams at the same centre and received our results online on the same day. My mark forms/certificates arrived in the post the next day while my collegue didn't get hers until 6 days later. She had contacted the board who said they had all been posted together on a particular date, they arrived about an hour after she emailed the board!!

Summer term results usually seem to take longer, because, I think, that there are lots more candidates in the summer term. Schools often seem to enter once a year, and in the summer.

I thought that maybe there would be fewer in the summer because people didn't want to clash with school exams, GCSE, A level and school trips.

In our local centres, March is normally the busiest time for exams, but this term has had far more candidates. The normally largest centre usually has exams for about 4 weeks, this time they needed a second venue and the exams were on there for the best part of 4 weeks too. I try to avoid summer term exams for GCSE and A level candidates if possible, but some of them like to do practical or theory exam along with their other exams - they say they have so many exams - one more won't make much difference!

Don't worry about it flutey toot! Got results earlier - more or less as I had predicted. The one I thought might fail got a good pass, the rest were merit and 1 distinction. Thanks flutey toot. Good luck learning to drive. I think everyone finds the first lesson scary, so don't worry! I found the first time driving on my own after I passed my test really scary too. I took my grade 8 violin on the 26th of June and I still haven't got my results back yet. I'm really hoping that they come before the end of the week because I'm taking my grade 8 piano on monday and it would probably take some of the pressure off if I already know how I did on my violin exam.

It would be good if someone at the board would let us all in to the mysteries of result handling.
If it depends on when an examiner finishes his/her tour then it would be useful to have the information about how long they are at a particular venue on the appointment letter. At least then you'd know whether you might be in for a longer wait (like if you were in the first week of a 3 week session).

I always ask the local rep when the examiner finishes so I have a rough idea of when I might get results. In my emails, I asked the board why results weren't sent out in the order the exams were taken so that everyone then would wait roughly the same length of time for their results.
