I couldnt imagine my life without music. Everyone says i should make a career out of it. I feel i have a strong passion for music but its not the only thing i want to do. I acheive high grades in school for all subjects and would like to get involved in something like advertising. So where should i go from here? I know i want to go to uni but i cant choose between the 2!

I also have this problem - when you are very able in school it's hard to tell what you are really good at, as everything at this level seems easy. Remember that music requires lots of time and devotion, you really have to be incredibly dedicated and persevering if you want to make a career of it. Not to mention actually being a capable musician! You never know what will happen as you get older, so you can only learn by experience to find out what's best for you and what you enjoy.

Hi Missmusic
The great thing about music is that it's something you will be able to enjoy for the whole of your life - and you can fit your enjoyment of music around any other career - often as a means of relaxation to help keep your life in balance. Most orchestras and choirs seem to rehearse at evenings and weekends, so it's something you can do after work.
I certainly find that to be the case - I've been a Chartered Accountant for 10 years, and find that singing (whether practising, taking lessons or in a choir) in my spare time is the main thing that keeps me sane! And in this last year I've (at the grand old age of 36) started having singing lessons for the first time ever - and to my great delight I passed Grade 5 with distinction a couple of weeks ago.
I think what I'm trying to say is that you CAN enjoy both music and another career, if you are prepared to put the time in.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Yes I know it is difficult to choose between these two. If you choose music and go for it and go all out you will be remembered for so many generations. There is no limit for the joy too. Not only enjoyment of mind but also you will make lot of money these days. " Music is the food of love" Shakespeare
Dont hesitate , Life is the song and love is the music All the Best
