Well today I had the worst luck to fall on my hand and injure my elbow (don't ask how that worked) its badly sprained and its my left, so its the hand I use to hold my viola up, I tried to hold it up earlier, and I couldn't get it halfway there, and the thing is, I've got an audition next week for my local youth orchestra, on the viola, and I was just wondering what I shoul do, should I try and build up the ability in my arm over this week and give it a go or should I leave till later in case I injure my elbow further?

I went to the hospital about it as the medical lady said there was a chance that it was broken, but I had an x-ray and all it showed was that I have more bones on my elbow than most people!
The bone person and the physio person told me that it should be ok, but elbows can be iffy, but its better than what it was earlier, I can move it a bit now.

Ah sorry about ure arm!!!
But at least its not the worst.
have you told the director of the orchestra about ure arm? maybe he/she could give you a few extra days till your arm becomes better and then u can audition?

Reminds me of the scenario yesterday with one of my flute pupils - she told me she has her annual audition for the band she's in on Thursday next week. Then in the next breath she told me that she's having a brace fitted next Tuesday! We won't know until her lesson on Tuesday afternoon whether she can play her flute well/a bit/not at all with the brace. I hope if it's a disaster she might be able to get the audition moved to the beginning of next term.

Isabellsmells - how about some physiotherapy - could be referred via your gp but quicker to go privately.
In any case maybe applying a cold compress and trying not to use t too much - might improve in time.
Good luck!!
