Since Tuesday, I feel that my flute is not responding sad.gif mad.gif : my notes are not as clear or tone as pretty. I am trying to get it back into how it was last week, but as I have an audition on July 5th, I really need to get my tone as good as possible. Any ideas for productive practice (I am not a preofessional, or graduate or anything, I practice about 1 hour per day) I can not fit in any more that an hour per day due to school and revision for tests. I really want my flute back sounding nicely. I know that even if I play my pieces perfectly, with a bad tone I will not be as good.

Thanks for any suggestions smile.gif

heya!

i play the flute 2! i really wouldn't worry, i have those days all the time, just keep practising and the beautiful tone will soon come back!

i don't know if you've got the trevor wye book? it's called trevor wye's practice books for the flute? there are five, and book one concentrates on tone, ever since i have had it, i've found my tone has become clearer and richer! it really is a must have!!! biggrin.gif

by the way, an hour a day is really impressive!!! i'm in between grade 7 and 8, and i can't find time to do an hour!! i think maybe i should!

good luck with your audition!

It may be loads of things, and not necessarily to do with you.

My flutes tone goes a bit when the weathers bad! (and I'm being serious) and of course when it's warm I get unbelivably sharp! (I did my gade 7 exam with the head about half an inch out!)

Don't worry too much, I'm sure it'll sort itself out.

Godd luck in the audition.

Check that you are not being lazy with your embrochure sometimes it happens without you noticing, Especially if you are tired from all of your tests.
