Easy choice - viennese whirls are nice, but gariboldi biscuits are not only yummy but have many good memories attached biggrin.gif

WARNING

Read this before you vote!! I suspect this poll is posted by a spy trying to work out your personality unsure.gif ohmy.gif (I mean, why else would anyone want to know about your favourite buiscuit on a music forum tongue.gif )

How your choice of biscuit can reveal your true personality

Are you an introvert or the life and soul of the party? The answer it seems could be lying in your biscuit tin.

According to a new report commissioned by Fox’s Biscuits, if you want to discover someone’s personality over a cuppa, it’s time to forget the tea leaves and start watching what biscuit they reach for.

The new psychological study from Manchester Metropolitan’s Dr David Holmes shows that when it comes to the crunch, the type of biscuit your mate or loved one chooses could reveal more about their personalities than they might like to give away.

Toppings in particular can apparently be very telling. Dark chocolate lovers, like their chocolate of choice, are sleek, sophisticated and seriously seductive. Undoubtedly the 007 of the biscuit tin, they are dynamic leaders, who crave excitement and long for luxury.

Those going for milk chocolate biscuits, by contrast, are easy going, happy go lucky types, whereas those choosing to give into the temptation of the white chocolate covering, are likely to be reserved, quietly confident characters, who are prepared to take risks where necessary.

Dr David comments: “Every tiny waver (wafer?) in our decision making whether conscious or unconscious reveals something about our tastes or learned preferences, so even something as seemingly everyday as deciding which biscuit to take, can provide a fascinating insight into your psyche.”

So what does your biscuit say about you?

Apart from toppings, one of the first giveaways is the shape of the biscuit. Watch the man choosing the round biscuit, as well as showing himself to be a balanced thinker and a conscientious individual, his selection also reflects his animal passions with round shapes unconsciously reflecting the female form at the root of his desires!

Square or oblong nibblers, however, are more likely to be slaves to fashion than passion. Fanatical shoppers with a great attention to detail and a love of the unusual, they love to be on the go and have a wide range of interests that they never quite seem to have time for.

If, however, you’re looking for some support, or even just someone to help with the washing up after dinner, try to find someone who shuns toppings in favour of plain or shortcake biscuits. These people tend to be very down to earth, loyal and extremely hard working.

Foil covered fanciers, meanwhile, are prepared to take their chances but while they love a little mystery, their penchant for detail and organisation, means they are likely to have a very carefully planned schedule.

And fillings? At the office ‘do’, stick with the cream filling lover, the life and soul of the party they’ll be the ones disco-ing until the early hours and keeping you entertained with a ready stream of chat. Those choosing fruity fillings, such as orange or strawberry, meanwhile, are reckoned to be rather fruity individuals, who are bags of fun and very sensual.

But beware the Jammy Dodgers. Always dodging aned weaving and not to be trusted.

Tough decision! Between the digestives, pink wafers, chocolate bourbons, chocolate chip cookies, custard creams, cheese crackers, chocolate digestives and Jaffa cakes, it has to be the chocolate chip cookies. smile.gif

chocolate chip cookie

It does have some wonderful advantages such as not melting in your saucer or on your fingers yet still containing that vital ingredient of chocolate.

For this reason I keep a packet in my car (in the drinks holder thingy which by some quirk of wonderful car design is exactly right as a chocolate chip cookie packet holder. Maybe they need to rename it in the car spec). No melty chocolatey mess in the hot weather, yet still yummy chocolatey biscuits to eat en route. Biscuit design of the year award I think.

I haven't read previous posts so apologies if this has been mentioned but

BENS COOKIES

are the absolute best. They have a crisp outer coating but the inside is all gooey and fudge like and if it's a chocolate one, the chocolate is half melting and oozing out and the aroma of chocolate and butter is totally intoxicating . They come in a range - lemon flavour, double chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate and more.

I've only found 3 Bens Cookies shops in the whole of England (Bath, South Kensington, High Street Kensington). They beat any cookie I've tried in America. I liked them so much that I considered getting a summer holiday job with them but at that point, they only had one shop in England which was about 150 miles from where I lived.

Anyway, if you ever have a chance to eat a Bens Cookie then do it. Your taste buds will never want another cookie again.

By some quirk of fate, they opened up a Bens Cookie shop about 50m from where I used to live in Kensington and having over dosed on them, I can finally say that my addiction to them has been laid to rest but I do urge everyone on this forum to try at least one of these cookies.

I think if I remember correctly they are officially classed as cakes after a legal battle to determine if they carried VAT as luxury goods if they were biscuits. It all stemmed from proving if the orangey bit adhered to the spongey bit or the chocolatey bit.

janexxx
From the HM gov document on the classification of foodstuffs for VAT. You can find anything on the internet these days.

Soz about the formatting:

8.9 The borderline between cakes and biscuits
The significance of the borderline between cakes and biscuits is that a cake is
zero-rated even if it is covered in chocolate, whereas a biscuit is standard-rated
if wholly or partly covered in chocolate or some product similar in taste
and appearance. As set out in the paragraphs above, there is no generally
accepted definition of either cake or biscuit, but the distinction is usually clear
in practice. The leading case on the borderline is that concerning ‘Jaffa
cakes’:
United Biscuits (LON/91/0160). Customs had accepted since the start of
VAT that Jaffa cakes were zero-rated as cakes but had always had misgivings
about whether this was correct. Following a review, the department reversed
its view of the liability. Jaffa cakes were then ruled to be biscuits partly
covered in chocolate and standard-rated: United Biscuits (as McVities, one of
the largest manufacturers of Jaffa cakes) appealed against this decision. The
Tribunal listed the factors it considered in coming to a decision as:
__ the product’s name - a minor consideration;
__ ingredients - cake can be made of widely differing
ingredients, but Jaffa cakes are made of an egg, flour,
and sugar mixture which was aerated on cooking and was
the same as a traditional sponge cake. It was a thin
batter rather than the thicker dough expected for a biscuit
texture - cake would be expected to be soft and friable,
biscuit crisp and able to be snapped: Jaffa cakes had the
texture of sponge cake;
__ size - Jaffa cakes were in size more like biscuits than
cakes;
__ packaging - Jaffa cakes were sold in packages more
similar to biscuits than cakes;
__ marketing - Jaffa cakes were generally displayed for sale
with biscuits rather than cakes;
__ on going stale, a Jaffa cake goes hard like a cake rather
than soft like a biscuit;
__ Jaffa cakes are presented as a snack, eaten with the
fingers, whereas a cake may be more often expected to
be eaten with a fork. They also appeal to children, who
could eat one in a few mouthfuls rather like a sweet; and
__ the sponge part of a Jaffa cake is a substantial part of the
product in terms of bulk and texture when eaten. Taking all these factors into account, Jaffa cakes had characteristics of both
cakes and biscuits, but the Tribunal thought they had enough characteristics
of cakes to be accepted as such, and they were therefore zero-rated.

So now you know...Officially cakes!
Mushroom
Digestive, they're sooooooooooo goood with tea. tongue.gif
